Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral is a public higher education institution grounded in excellence, working with society to train professionals of integrity, carrying out research and innovation to improve quality of life and advance sustainable development.
Its academic community brings together more than a thousand teaching staff and researchers. Its scientific work is organised into institutional research centres, affiliated centres and research groups connected to the country’s productive sectors.
Technical, scientific and creative education
Its provision spans undergraduate and postgraduate study, with both professional and research-oriented programmes, and draws on its own scientific infrastructure across four campuses, including a permanent station in the Galápagos dedicated to island sustainability science.
ESPOL concentrates its research on ten priority areas, among them digital technologies, sustainable industry, energy efficiency and renewable energies, the environment and disaster risk reduction, and health and human development.

This academic institution offers a broad and diverse educational portfolio organised into eight faculties and a business school, spanning electrical engineering and computing, earth sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, mechanical and production sciences, maritime and marine sciences, life sciences, social sciences and humanities, and art, design and audiovisual communication.
Its provision brings together 35 undergraduate and 71 postgraduate programmes, in fields ranging from engineering, industry and construction to business, agriculture, information technologies, natural sciences, social sciences, and the arts and humanities.
