The Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (UMNG) is a Colombian public institution with a special organisational structure and headquarters in Bogotá. Founded in 1982, it is committed to comprehensive training, teaching, research, social outreach and internationalisation. It offers high-quality programmes aimed at both the defence sector and civil society, under the motto ‘Science, Country and Family’.


Commitment to educational and social excellence

The UMNG is a Colombian public university with special organic status, attached to the Ministry of National Education. Its mission is to train ethical, responsible citizens who are committed to the country’s development through excellent education, impactful research and social leadership. It has eight faculties in areas such as medicine, law, engineering, economic sciences, international relations, strategy and security, education and humanities, and distance learning. It has campuses in Bogotá and on the Nueva Granada Campus in Cajicá. Its 2024–2028 Rector’s Plan promotes life skills training, transformative leadership and peace building.


Areas of knowledge

The Universidad Militar Nueva Granada offers academic programmes in medicine, law, engineering, economic and administrative sciences, basic and applied sciences, international relations, strategy and security, education and humanities, and distance learning. These areas reflect its commitment to comprehensive training and its ability to respond to the needs of the country, civil society and the defence sector.
