An innovative educational approach
Universidad del Norte is a private institution whose academic work is directed towards training professionals with solid scientific and research foundations and a strong social and humanistic grounding. Founded in 1966 on the initiative of a group of Barranquilla business leaders, it has grown alongside the development of Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
Its identity finds expression in a campus conceived as an open, sustainable space with Caribbean roots, symbolised by the Roble Amarillo: the tree already growing on the land where the university was built, and which today stands for its rootedness and its growth.
Rigorous, internationally recognised education
The institution offers an education that combines scientific rigour with social awareness, designed to respond both to advances in knowledge and to the concrete needs of the region and the country. Its model rests on close support for students throughout their academic journey.
Its academic staff carry out intensive research work, organised into research groups, centres and institutes, and the university channels that knowledge back into society through the Hospital Universidad del Norte, the Cayena Cultural Centre and a broad programme of outreach and consultancy. Its offering is delivered both on campus and online, with microcredentials and continuing education.
